This clean and cozy cabin was the perfect retreat. It is in a great location that gives you privacy but is also close to downtown Helen and other adventures.The staff provided great customer service.I would definitely recommend and will book again.

It was a last-minute booking, the reservation agent was super helpful and kind. The main intent for the getaway was to relax in a hot tub and disconnect from the daily routine. To our surprise, the hot tub was not the cleanest, the water smelled like mold instead of disinfectant. I called the desk and they immediately sent someone who brought a new floater with disinfectant tablets (the one we found had no tablets inside). Of note, we had used this rental company in the past a few times and the hot tubs always smelled clean. The kitchen furniture was dated which did not bother me, but the shower was sparkling white! The cabin next door was pretty close, thankfully no one was there so we had some privacy getting in and out the hot tub. The other neighbor’s dog barked a lot, made me wonder if they were in vacation there or lived there, because that cabin had clutter around it, which made me feel a little unsafe. The city of Helen is minutes away with plenty of things to do and great restaurants.

Secluded and quiet cabin to experience nature and it’s beauty. A peaceful 12 min drive to Helen. The drive itself was full of beautiful scenery. While Helen, GA was full of people and traffic, the cabin was not. We enjoyed our stay!

When we arrived the cabin was clean as always. GMR is the best rental company my wife and I have used. We have stayed at numerous cabins they manage. As for the cabin, the only thing I would recommend is increased water pressure. Sometimes it slowed to a trickle but not a deal breaker. A bear came to visit on our last night there and that was really cool! We will always stay with GRM!

The staff, Jessica and I can’t remember the maintenance guy’s name, were excellent. The emails took care of most of my questions, but everything was handled professionally and timely. That really put me at ease and made the stay that much more relaxing.

The cabin was very cute and the hot tub was very nice on those chilly days/nights. The mattress on the bed is very soft and the coffee filter could probably use to be replaced. Everything else was great. It’s quiet and removed from the noise of town. We enjoyed it!

Neat set up of space. Furniture needed a good cleaning. Could use more kitchen items. Coffee pot was much to small. Bed was fair but would not want to spend a whole week sleeping on! The day bed mattress is pathetic--would not even put a child on it. The hot tub was probably the best feature of the unit. We did have a problem finding the cabin. Not the best GA Mountain Rental we have stayed in. I did appreciate that it is pet free.

The cabin is easily accessible with a private feel. The hot tub was the perfect addition to a cold night. We cooked a lot in the kitchen and the pots/pans and utensils were high quality and very helpful! Would love to stay here again.

Great location away from the busy and crowd in Helen. Cabin was just right for two adults. And being our first time renting a cabin I would recommend. If you choose to rent this cabin confirm that the hot tub is available for use. Sent payment for your stay, but was notified that the hot tub was unavailable few days before your stay. Buyer beware type thing, no money or discount offered in return.

We used Bear's Rest as our home base for a short week of hiking. The cabin was cute and comfortable, exactly as represented in the promotional material. We enjoyed North GA a great deal and expect to return in the future. The only tiny note we'd give would be a bit of attention to the kitchen utensils. We are probably a bit unusual in that we cooked almost every meal in, and would have appreciated a few better knives and other tools during meal prep. A tiny note within an overall excellent experience.

This was a beautifully maintained property with a lot of privacy and placed between an extremely scenic route to and from town. Fresh boiled peanuts are minutes away and if you’re back home by dusk, you get to see lightning bugs all around the cabin.

Very pleased with the “cabin” ... larger’n our condo!

Arrived in the afternoon and got the call for the lock-box code.

The place looked like the PR photo – goodliness.

“Bear’s Rest “ was clean and tidy. The room layout is good, the views from the porch and the hot tub, equally so. Appointments good: thick towels, plenty of plates/drinking ware/cups/glasses. Lots of ceiling fans. Appliances fresh/new and nice/good. Good “fridge”. Water pressure “high”; water heater effective. LED lighting ... 2 rolls of TP.

TV had 2 aux HDMI ports = +.

Never used the AC ... opened windows = x-ventilation.

Parking is off the main drag and out-of -the-way

Out in the middle-of-nowhere ... quiet nights. Surrounded by mature (50-foot-or-more) Hickory trees (I guess ... ). Plus undergrowth. Every shade/tint of green known to arborists.

Used the tub several times. Ate in town three times; did not cook, other than boiling eggs & toasting a muffin or three. “Vacation”, after all! Enough power sockets. Did not use the gas grill.

Rained like a Big Dog one evening and the rain pounding on the roof was ultra-soothing. Never saw anyone ... felt supper-“safe” (Never concerned, anyway. Don’t own a firearm ... plus also live in Baja CA, Mexico.)

We’d easily, unequivocally, recommend it and would return. Winter would be a nice time: wood stove.

Kitchen sink dripped, so we used the bath sink: issueless, to me.

Next door “visitors” left their trash/garbage out ... and we had a Black Bear sow with three cubs drop by for breakfast. They were about 30-f

This was my Grandson and I 1st time in Helen And his 1st time in a cabin. The Cabin was very well maintained very clean smelt amazing. We loved every thing about our stay. We needed a place near great hiking close-to and north of Helen Ga. We rented Bears Rest.
THE GOOD
- The location was perfect for this — 15-20 miles from Appalachian Trail access on various trails and didn’t have to drive through helen to get there. But access to helen for restaurants was easy 6 min drive south.
- 5 STAR MANAGERS. Sherry was great and always felt taken care of from the moment booked to the checkout.
- main bed comfortable
- stand-alone wood burning fireplace great, good draft, nice fires (need 14” logs!)
- good wifi and good led tv with roku..netflix, amazon etc access
- quiet (unless the renters beside you have dogs that bark...dogs are allowed so it’s possible..i love dogs, just not barking ones at midnight).
-shower has solid pressure and hot water plentiful
THE BAD
- the lighting was off-putting and sucked the coziness out of the cabin at night. When the lights are on, it feels cold and cheap.....all of the bulbs in every fixture were those bright “day light” bulbs that shed cold light, similar to the light inside home depot stores. Many different wattage/brightness bulbs. Lighting matters.
- there is ZERO comfortable places to sit in the cabin. None. We were hiking during the days, and needed a place to relax after. THIS IS NOT THE PLACE. The couch is old, dingy and not comfortable...better suited for a dorm room. THAT WAS IT for seatin in the main room (fireplace and tv watching). OWNERS OF THIS CABIN, PLEASE NOTE: Comfortable seating in a vacation rental is not optional...if it’s uncomfortable ****** furniture, someone who cares will write about it. And they will never rent it again. If you are reading this for insight and considering renting this place, ask if they’ve put in comfortable couch and chairs first. Otherwise don’t rent this place.
- no dishwasher, so if you plan on eating in, you’ll be doing old school dish

This is the first time that my husband and I have rented a cabin, and we were glad that we selected this one. It's not too isolated or far from places you would want to go; it's conveniently close to Anna Ruby falls, Helen, and Unicoi Park. The cabin itself is adorable and was very clean (as was the hot tub), and office staff was always polite and available to answer any questions we had. I would certainly recommend this cabin, especially to couples. Thanks!

Bears Rest was the perfect cabin. It was clean, comfortable, and very cozy! We were able to have a fire in the fireplace which made it even more cozy. The hot tub is a nice touch. The cabin is only a short drive away from Helen but it is tucked away and very peaceful and quiet. We thoroughly enjoyed staying here and would absolutely stay here again.

During this time of COVID Pandemic, it was really nice to get out of the city for a while. As we were there for the 4th of July holiday, we took advantage of the tranquil scenery and remained inside our cute little cabin away from the wonder family activities that were going on in the village. Overall a great trip for a 1 yr anniversary! Cabin was the perfect get away. It was in a perfect location only minutes from downtown. The cabin was very clean & the bed was super comfortable! The hot tub was a great addition. However, the couch was very uncomfortable. We are planning our next anniversary trip in the same place, especially with how awesome the Georgia rental company is, Sherry was amazing helping us all through the weekend. Helping with directions & was very pleasant to deal with!

This cabin is the perfect size for a couple’s getaway. It was very clean, the hot tub was very nice although it took a while to heat up. It is a perfect distance from Helen, close but still far enough away to have that mountain feeling. The bed was very comfortable, however the sofa was not. That is really our only complaint. Being that we were there on a rainy weekend, a more comfortable sofa would have been nice to watch tv on. And we did receive a call from management during our stay to make sure everything was going well, which was nice.

The location of the cabin was perfect in my eyes with just being a couple miles away from Helen and still having the mountain feel. The master bed was comfortable and the hot tub was perfect! The cabin itself is decent and it was easy to get to as well.

Me & my fiance had an amazing stay at bears rest! The cabin was beautiful & had a very homey feeling! The location was very convenient to downtown Helen, & the cabins were spaced out enough to give enough privacy. We really enjoyed the xplorie cards also, it saved us alot of money on fun activities. If you are looking for just a little mountain get away here's a perfect spot. Close enough to town that it's a quick drive yet secluded enough for privacy and quiet. Cabin has a wonderful hot tub, but other then that very rustic and bare bone.
